Read more …Hello all – As you know we usually deliver each Saturday but on December 26th (Boxing Day) we will not be delivering any food parcels. But we will deliver on Wednesday 23rd in lieu of this.
Come to Mesopotamia and support Pixie by buying her debut CD (minimum suggested donation £3) as she supported us by decorating our window.
Here at Mesopotamia we have organised an Amazon wish list so that all of our generous supporters can help the vulnerable in our local area over the Christmas period.
You may choose from gifts ranging in price from under £5 through to £19.99.
There is a lot happening behind the scenes at Mesopotamia. As the charity grows and supports more people, we have struggled with space and funding. Our original charity shop building, that later became our coffee shop, will be closing it’s doors in the coming weeks as we can no longer afford the cost of the lease.
However, we do have amazing news we are desperate to share with you. Watch this space!
We will close the shop on Tuesday 22nd December at 4.30 pm and reopen at 9.30am on Tuesday 5th January. However, between these dates we will still be running our food bank. Please see our FAQs for details.
We are aware that some people are concerned about a few of our volunteers not wearing face coverings. Therefore, we would like to explain our position.
Many of our volunteers have underlying health conditions which are not always visible. Under Government guidelines, they are exempt from wearing face coverings. As a charity, Mesopotamia have made risk assessments including reducing the number of volunteers on the shop floor, screening off the till area and providing hand sanitiser; we are also encouraging regular hand washing.
We have been visited by Nottingham City Council Safety Team who have confirmed we have taken the correct and appropriate actions but need to publicise these, to reassure our customers. If you do have any specific concerns, please contact us.
We are delighted to announce we will be re-opening our Charity Shop tomorrow at 9.30 a.m. and look forward to receiving your donations and your patronage in our shop. Sadly, we can’t collect goods at the moment. Our van was involved in an accident and is off the road but we have applied to join the Nottingham City Council Electric vehicle Experience and hope to hear from them soon.
Read more …This year we have made the decision that we will give every child on our food distribution list a gift for them to open on Christmas morning. We realise that times are hard for many and we see the biggest impact is on children. We are asking our supporters to donate a small gift for a child in need this Christmas. Please don’t wrap the gift – we will do that.
Read more …Regular readers will know that volunteers from the Nottinghamshire 4068 United Service Lodge have been regularly giving up their Saturdays to build a much needed shed to store food and essentials they buy in and distribute to local people in need. The build has been progressing and we have been sharing time lapse videos to illustrate their progress. Here is the latest (and maybe the last?) for you to enjoy.
